The Federal Government undertakes to mediate the negotiations between MST and Suzano
The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Farming announced that it intends to mediate the conflict between the company and the movement following complaints that three eucalyptus farms were targeted by the group in Bahia.

This Thursday, the 2nd, Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture (MDA) announced that it intends to mediate the conflict between Movement of rural landless workers (MST) and Suzano Papel of Celulose, after the company reported that three of its eucalyptus farms were targeted by the group in bahia. MINISTER Paulo Teixeira pledged that the company would talk to the MST to try to broker the removal of the movement in the area. When speaking on the subject, Teixeira avoided criticism of the movement and said that the objective is to guarantee, at this moment, a meeting next week in Brasília: “MST claims the destruction of an agreement made ten years ago. The MST will give me the answer this afternoon and, if the farm is vacated, we will have a meeting next Wednesday at the MDA with the presence of Suzano, the MST and the Ministry of Agrarian Development. I am waiting for an answer from MST to continue this dialogue”.
The company appealed to the Court, which has already determined repossession and a fine of R$ 5,000 per day of occupation. Suzano informed that it generates about 7 thousand direct jobs in the region, more than 20 thousand indirect jobs and benefits about 37 thousand people in total. The MST claims that the purpose of the invasion was to denounce the growth of monocultures in the interior of Bahia.
