A careful observation has given police a dual investigative success in Menden: A 27-year-old arrested for two crimes.
An employee of a Menden hotel had particularly good eyesight: on Wednesday (June 1st), the man met a 27-year-old on the street in Hönnestadt. The 27-year-old had previously tried to open a vending machine in his hotel lounge in front of the surveillance camera on Tuesday, according to Märkisch district police. Shortly afterwards the hotel employee discovered signs of departure in a beverage machine.
However, the attempt to use it was unsuccessful: the suspect turned the car around but was unable to open it. On Wednesday, the employee recognized the homeless. He saw the 27-year-old cycling on the West Wall. He stopped her, held her and called the police.
The man had “taken” the bike about an hour ago to the Schützenhalle in Bösperde. He explained to the police that it was not “theft”. After all, she was not insured. Police officers secured the Cube bicycle and temporarily arrested the suspect.
