Police find a man seriously injured, bleeding in front of the closed Marien hospital in Essen. Shortly afterwards there is another injured. Are the two acts related?
Two men, several seriously injured, found on Thursday night have so far surprised police in Essen. Around 12:30, officials heard from the fire department in Essen about a seriously injured person in front of the Marien hospital, police said.
A 29-year-old man had a bleeding wound and underwent emergency surgery at the hospital that night. According to initial findings, a deadly danger to the Angolan man could not be ruled out.
Another person injured in Westviertel – connection?
Shortly before 1am, police received information about another injured in Westviertel. At the scene, officials found a 22-year-old with minor injuries. There was also evidence of a link between the two missions and a possible criminal offense.
The 22-year-old Syrian has been taken into custody for further investigation. Police said they were currently being charged with “attempted murder”. A murder commission was set up that night. A helicopter was also used. The background of the event is still unclear. Investigations are ongoing and police are searching for witnesses. As WAZ reports, a suspect is said to be in police custody.
