The New York Jets have a great plan for QB Chris Streveler
Even on their way to seven wins with a chance to make the playoffs in the final two weeks, the New York Jets quarterback has been chaotic all year.
The season started with Joe Flacco, went to Zack Wilson, then Mike White before he injured his rib. Wilson is back on the field, and so are his struggles. That led to preseason star Chris Striveler having a live cast last Thursday night.
While his arm talent isn’t quite there, Streveler does offer some unique traits that were showcased last week. Whether it’s his ability to run and keep defenses unbalanced as a dual-threat quarterback or the exciting intangibles he displays on the field, or his strength, competitiveness, and moxie, Streveler is intriguing.

The New York Jets are planning a package for Chris Striefler, reportedly envisioning the role of Taysom Hill:
After rushing for 54 yards (six on each attempt) last week, it would be wise to keep Streveler compact on offense.
Ian Rapoport, NFL Network Insider, shared on The Pat McAfee Show that the Jets are anticipating a “Taysom Hill turn” to move forward with Streveler.
In his press conference yesterday afternoon, Jets coach Robert Salih was asked about Striveller and his possible use going forward. Ironically, he mentioned the comparison with Hill.
We’ll see. He did a really great job with it. I thought it was a cool little wrinkle. I know people are aware of Taysum Hill and all the things he did and continues to do for New Orleans. Again, a lot of guys come back healthy this week, hopefully. So, there’s a lot of gymnastics that needs to happen. So that’s something we talk about but it’s not a guarantee.”
The encouraging part to hear is that they are at least considering a package for Streveler. He can offer this offense versatility through his ability as a runner, which makes game planning and game adjustments for defenses a challenge.
As noted above, Streveler doesn’t have NFL-caliber arm strength, but his throwing ability, especially on the go, can make opponents honest, and possibly elevate the Jets’ offense in need of a spark.
The Streveler has some wheels on the ground (4.51 40-yard dash) with some bulk (216 pounds) and power to boot. He can definitely give this offense a jolt, a nice change of pace, which could lead to some big plays. With the Jets vying for a playoff spot, any contributions from Streveler over the next two weeks are a plus. Hopefully, the Jets will keep him involved in a specific role that can help the offense get more points on the board.
