The police arrested a caregiver for sexually harassing a 15-year-old teenager

Manaus – The Civil Police of Amazonas (PC-AM), through the Specialized Police for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (Depca), fulfilled this Wednesday (03/08) an order for the preventive arrest of a medical technician, 58 years old, for the criminal offense of sexual harassment and incitement of prostitution committed against a 15-year-old minor. The crimes took place on Thursday (02/03), in a health unit in the district of Presidente Vargas, south of Manaus.
At a press conference held at the headquarters of Depco, in the Aleixo district, south-central zone, police chief Joyce Coelho, head of the specialized police unit, reported that at the time of the crime, the teenager went to the health unit to change the bandage, accompanied by his grandmother.
“However, when he entered the room unaccompanied, the carer began touching his genitals and engaged in libidinous acts with the teenager, and also offered to buy a snack in exchange for sexual favors,” the delegate explained.
According to Joyce Coelho, the teenager asked the man to stop, but he continued. Then the victim left the room and went to her home, where she told her mother, who immediately went to Depča to file a police report (BO).
“On the same day, considering that it was a possible flagrant criminal act, the police went to the health unit, but the person had already fled the scene. Then the teams went to his house, in an alley on Avenida Constantino Nery, in the south-central zone, but he was not at the address,” reported Joyce.
However, according to the delegate, Depca continued with the proceedings, including a specialized hearing of the teenager, and later an arrest warrant was presented to the court. The court order was issued by the Criminal Service on Tuesday (07/03).
“This morning we took steps to the perpetrator’s residence, where we managed to arrest him,” he said.
Procedures
He will answer for sexual harassment and facilitating prostitution and will be available to the judiciary.
