The São José de Mipibu and Nísia Floresta stations are distributed by CBTU

Brazilian Urban Train Company (CBTU) delivered the Nísia Floresta and São José de Mipibu stations this week. With the completion of the new structures, in White line Only the works on the railway and Nísia Floresta Station will remain, which will be ready at the end of this month. It is expected that after the start of operational tests and the completion of the permanent track, the railway line will be available and ready for commercial operation in mid-January 2023.

On this occasion, a technical visit was also made to the works of the purple line, in São Gonçalo do Amarante.

It will have a total of 23.4 km of railway line and five stations, of which four were delivered (Boa Esperança and Cajupiranga, adding two of this action). With an investment of more than R$ 78 million, it will serve more than 11,000 passengers a day.

Overall, the Union is investing more than R$100 million in the rail network in Rio Grande do Norte, which also includes the construction of the Purple Line. The contribution will enable the construction of a total of eight stations and almost 30 kilometers of railway line. With this, Greater Natal’s rail network will become the widest in the Northeast and the third largest in the country – behind only the Metropolitan Regions of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

The construction of Bonfim, São José de Mipibu and Nísia Floresta stations is part of sections II and III of the White Line. The two stages have R$ 51.6 million in federal investment and will have 20 kilometers of new track.

The CBTU in Rio Grande do Norte transports an average of 11,600 people per day. The system has 60 kilometers of railway lines and 25 stations.

The purple line

The foundation stone for the construction of the CBTU Purple Line in Greater Natal was laid in September 2021. With a contribution of BRL 18.7 million from the Federal Government, the project includes the installation of 4.1 kilometers of track and the construction of three stations: Bela Vista, BR-101 Norte and Jardim Petrópolis .

The forecast is that 2,000 people will be served daily by the branch line, which will connect the Metropolitan Region of Natal with the municipalities of São Gonçalo do Amarante and Extremoz. The works are ongoing and are expected to be completed in February 2023.
