A little while ago, the plenary session of the Senate approved a A proposal to amend the Constitution (PEC) obliging the Union to contribute to the payment of the National Nursing Tax in the States, Municipalities and Santas Casas.

There were two unanimous votes: the first – 72 votes, the second – 71 votes. The text continues to be adopted by the National Congress.

The approved text ensures that the Union must reserve funds in its budget for “additional assistance” to federal organizations and hospices that serve at least 60% of their patients through the Unified Health System. The future law will settle the matter.

The national nursing tax of R$4750 is also the basis for the salary of nursing assistants (70% of this amount) and midwives (50%). Value set by law, was suspended by the decision of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) in Septemberuntil the government proves the payment amount.
