The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s second patch update on PC left players disappointed. for some, the game started crashing more often.

Polish developer CD Projekt RED has announced the release of the second patch (the first was released on December 19) for its open-world fantasy action RPG The Witcher 3. Wild Hunt for PC enhanced version.

The roughly 2.2GB patch aims to improve the stability of The Witcher 3 on PC, fix bugs in photo mode and Arabic localization, fix a bug with maximum poison level, and improve gameplay on Steam Deck.

The patch does not affect The Witcher 3. On the Wild Hunt version number, so this is not 4.02 with the performance improvements that the experts at Digital Foundry talked about in their latest article.

Judging by the first reviews, the patch made things worse for some Steam users; after the update the game started crashing where it didn’t before. At the same time, most players complain about the lack of more substantial fixes.

The Witcher 3 Extended is available on PC (Steam, GOG, EA App), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. Among other things, the PC version suffers from inefficient CPU utilization and poor DirectX 12 performance compared to DirectX 11.
