Two of the four men accused of the politically connected killings in Mokopane, Limpopo, have been granted bail of R10 000 each by the High Court in Polokwane.
The accused, Jabu Mashamaite and James Chuma, petitioned the High Court after they were denied bail by the lower courts.
However, their co-accused Nkholo Mangana and Samuel Mokonyane remain in custody.
The four face murder charges following the July 2019 murders of ANC Mogalakwena councilor Valtin Kekana and sub-regional secretary Ralph Kanyane.
“My client Jabu Mashamaite has already been granted bail, the Polokwane High Court has upheld his appeal and we are very pleased that another court has now made a different decision to all the other courts. We are now proceeding to prove his innocence at trial,” explains Mashamai’s lawyer, Ngaoko Sibela.
