Vasco da Gama announced the resignation of coach Mauricio Souza

Vasco da Gama announced this Sunday (24) the departure of Mauricio Souza from the position of coach of the main team. The club published an official letter announcing the dismissal and thanking him for his services.

“Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama announces the dismissal of Mauricio Souza, coach of the professional football team. Vasco da Gama thanks Mauricio Souza for all his commitment during the games in which he continued to lead the club’s professional football team and wishes him success in the succession of his trajectory.”

At the end of 2021, Flamengo’s interim coach Mauricio Souza arrived in Vasco in June to replace Ze Ricardo, who left for football in Japan. In 7 matches led by Cruzmaltino, he won 3, drew 2 and lost 2. On Saturday (23) in the 20th round of the Brazilian championship, the coach could not face the defeat against Vila Nova-GO with a score of 1:0.

After confirmation of resignation, Vasco will be temporarily managed by Emilio Faro. Assistant Joao Correa and physical trainer Daniel Felix will make up the coaching staff.
