Virgin Mobile finally with VoLTE and VW-Fi Calling!

We have some very good news for Virgin Mobile users ahead of the weekend. Well, they can finally use VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling technology. In addition, Play announced the expansion of HD Voice+ availability and the introduction of ViLTE.

Long awaited services available on Virgin Mobile

Both VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling are available in the offers of many mobile networks in Poland, which is certainly useful for users. If you want to know more about what we are actually dealing with, we invite you to our text describing both solutions. However, it is worth noting here that since the publication, many new smartphones have appeared that support VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling.

However, we have now learned that both technologies are being rolled out to Virgin Mobile. Thanks to VoLTE, network customers gain e.g. access to significantly better quality calls. Wi-Fi Calling, on the other hand, allows you to make and receive calls and text messages over the Wi-Fi network, which in turn can prove useful in places where cellular network coverage is poor. In addition, the technology allows you to avoid roaming costs.

New services are currently available on Virgin Mobile prepaid offers. However, the subscription offers are being implemented. If you want to check if your smartphone supports these technologies, just go to the Play website.

New in Play: HD Voice+ (EVS) and ViLTE

Orange last week announced the release of the EVS codec for the iPhone 11 and all newer models in negotiations between Orange and Play. The purple carrier also boasted that the solution has become available for outgoing iPhone calls on the Orange network. It should be noted here that as of mid-2021, all eligible Play network users could use HD Voice+, with the exception of iPhone calls on the Orange network.

In addition, the purple operator announced that in cooperation with Orange it launched ViLTE (Video over LTE) connections. This makes it possible to establish a video call between clients of these two networks. The best part is that no additional application is needed to support such a solution.

It is worth remembering that if we want to use ViLTE, the smartphone must be in VoLTE or Wi-Fi Calling range. In addition, we need to have a model that supports the solution in question – a full list of devices that support the technology can be found in the entry on the official blog of the operator.
