Where should the New York Jets crime rank by the end of 2022?

It is widely known that the crime of the New York Jets struggled greatly for many years. In 2021, Gates’ offense ranked 26th in football at 306.4 yards per game, an improvement over previous years, but still not good enough. The last time the Jets had a better offensive rank than 26th was in the 2015 season when they ranked 10th in football.

Making big progress when you’ve been at the bottom for too long is never easy. However, Joe Douglas has dedicated a lot to this unit, and it was built to make the leap.

Continuity with key leaders

The number one reason for optimism that aircraft crime could rank much better is to stay in place schematically. Attack Coordinator Mike Lafleur is now in his second year of commanding this aircraft unit. He showed remarkable growth as the 2021 season progressed.

The hope is that it will continue to climb with more experience. Along with LaFleur, Zach Wilson is entering his second year. His confidence in the scheme should be on a completely different level. At the end of last year, Wilson showed remarkable progress himself. He has all the arm and athletic abilities with better surrounding talent now to execute his expected leap.

Many of the key players in the Gates offensive are now in their second year. Michael Carter, Elijah Moore, Corey Davis and Elijah Vera Tucker are all sophomores with the Jets and have time in the chart. Two other returning players, George Fant and Conor McGovern, both came out strong last year in last year’s attack. Even important depth players like Tevin Coleman, Braxton Berrios and Dan Feeney have all been kept in this season.

promotions in staff

The main reason the Jets are willing to make the leap is because of their significantly better talent. In Free Agency, three veterans are signed and all are expected to contribute immediately. A boost has been added to the offensive line at Laken Tomlinson. Great depth has been added to the foreground in Nate Herbig. The tight end position was greatly improved with the signings of Tyler Conklin and CJ Uzumah. Then, in the draft, Jets added Garrett Wilson, Bryce Hall, Jeremy Ruckert and Max Mitchell. Finally, if Mekhi Becton can play at a similar level to his rookie year, he’ll go a long way to attacking the Jets.

Where should this unit be arranged

When reviewing this crime on paper, there is no glaring weakness. There are questions to be answered, but talent across the board is much better. Pair that with half the time the individuals are in the chart, and it should show a significant increase in the final ranking.

By the end of the 2022 season, the goal should be that the Gates attack, for the first time in seven years, tops the list of the 20 best players in football. If all goes well, this unit may reach the top 15.
