Xiaomi’s new smartphone is a true 5-inch micro

Although it’s futile to look for compact smartphones these days, that doesn’t mean small devices have completely disappeared. The brand new smartphone belonging to Xiaomi is a perfect example of this.

The compact smartphone – a lost species

For years, the smartphone industry has shown that people really don’t want to buy small devices. Apple didn’t produce iPhone 14 mini, the fate of the iPhone SE series is also uncertain. In the field of android, various stylish projects appear from time to time Tel. Balmuda Did cubot pocket, but they do not gain wider popularity. However, it turns out that in China, Xiaomi has decided to launch the next-generation device with a small size under one of its sub-brands.

Duokin Qin from 2018, since this is the model we’re talking about, it started out as a feature phone with 4G connectivity and a few features taken from smartphones. In 2019, its successor was created, Qin 2 Pro and turned into a full-fledged smartphone with a small screen. Today, however, the model debuted Qin 3 Ultra.

Finally, what is the diagonal of the display that this “compact” smartphone boasts? 5.02-inwhich is about the same as flagship devices from 10 years ago Samsung Galaxy S4. The HD+ resolution screen got a 5 Mpix webcam in the notch in the upper left corner and that’s pretty much all that’s known about it. On the back there is one 8-megapixel camera with LED flash.

Underneath the small screen is a MediaTek G99 mobile system combined with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of data space. So it’s not a flesh-and-blood flagship, but it’s also nothing to be ashamed of. The small body is of course also a compromise in the charging part – the battery offers a capacity of 2500 mAh and it is not known if it is equipped with a fast charging option. This configuration should allow the device to run for 7 days of standby time and 9 hours of talk time.

The device runs on Android 12 with its own overlay. However, the built-in app store does not offer games, social apps and apps with short video content (eg Tik Tok). Duoqin Qin 3 Ultra is aimed at pupils and students whose goal is eliminating software that can distract the owner of the smartphone.

Qin 3 Ultra it is already available for sale in China in three colors: pink, gold and black, and its price is set at 1,599 yuan (1,020 zlotys). Although the equipment will probably never be released officially outside of Asia, I would like to test such a budget mini.
